Values trophy
The values trophy’s purpose is to recognize and reward the Rafa Nadal Tour by Santander’s player who shows the most positive values, attitudes and behaviors in his/her performance. The tour organizers consider these factors as key elements for the appropriate personal and athletic development of the participants.
For this purpose, besides the tournament's competition ranking, a ranking of values has been created and it is updated at every tournament.
There are three different areas within the ranking of values: attitude, values activities and behavior, each of them with its own scoring. The player with the highest rating in this ranking within each category will have the eighth place to compete in the master tournament, as the values trophy winner.
HOW DO THE SCORING WORKS?
1. ATTITUDE
The behavior and attitude shown by a player during the tournament, both on the court and during the off-court values activities, are rated.
- Court: performance during the matches.
- Values activities: player's attitude when carrying out the off-court activities.
2. VALUES ACTIVITIES
Regarding the activities created to train the different values and attitudes, the following elements are taken into account:
- Participation: a proactive attitude adds points.
- Record: an activity by which the players can register personal or collective marks that will add to their rankings.
3. BEHAVIOR
Inappropriate behavior during the tournaments is penalized, among others:
- Abuse: inappropriate use of the racquet and verbal abuse.
- No handshake: refusal to shake hands with the opponent at the end of the match.
- Not to apologize: lack of apology when the occasion requires it.
4. FOULS OR CODE VIOLATIONS
Besides those three areas mentioned above, through which the players can add points to their rankings of values, there is also a list of fouls/code violations that will penalize for the ranking of values by subtracting points as indicated:
